Old Wood Boat Bows Out Oil Painting

Old Wood Boat Bows Out

Oil on Linen                     30 x 24 Inches                  $3500 USD Framed

An old, wood fishing boat takes its last “bow”, run aground in the marshes of Hoskins Creek near the Rappahannock River, a tributary of the Chesapeake Bay. Damaged by a recent hurricane, it rests in the reeds, its age betrayed by countless layers of peeling paint, revealing decades of a long, hard life on the water—a life well spent.
Below is a close-up of the painting, showing the layers of peeling paint suggested by the application of thick dollops of paint with the palette knife.
